Spare Tires With No Air

They have finally come up with a spare tire that uses no air and takes up less space than the "donut" that most of us have currently. Its a solid polyurethane tire, that can go up to 2000 miles at 50 MPH.

An Article By Lawrence Lessig About Copyright Laws

Its a good article claiming that if the government wants to increase the copyright laws every twenty years they should at least make it so that if a copyright holder wants an extention then they have to pay a small fee to renew the copyright instead of just saying all copyrights are good another 20 years. They have done this 11 times and we can no longer, without permission republish anything from 1923 to the present.

Most of the things from back then are not being used and are not viable to make money to any company or person.

Another article that I read said that a University was trying to put all the old newspapers from their state online, but they can't because it would be a violation of copyright laws. Most of the papers in that state from 1923 have gone out of business and the next question they asked was: How can we find the owner of the rights if the paper is closed and no one knows who has the rights? So I guess we all have to be resigned tot he fact that these papers will forever be forgotten and all the news that was anything newsworthy from the time period of 1923 and on will be lost, because someone is too money hungry to let it go. I would like to thank the US Government again for doing what the people want and not what the industry wants. Good work to you.

FutureCast 2020

An intersting article about what it will be like in the year 2020, at least according to the "U.S. intelligence future-gazers." Its an interesting read as to what may happen in the future.

Computer Program for FBI May Need to be Scrapped

A $170 million computer program that was supposed to help the FBI change over from using paper is believed to me outdated already. The best part is that it was delivered last month. Apparently the FBI had no way of electonically filing reports to the Main Bureau office and agents were filling out paper reports then sending them in.

Although the FBI is trying to salvage what they can from the program in a trial. Mind you its only a small portion of the overall progrma that may work.

Why is this such a problem? Is there nothing out there that could do this for them? They have to have a totally new program? Don't the police have systems like this? I am so confused.

Pell Grants May be Raised $500

Good news from Mr. Bush. He is going to try and get the Pell Grant to raise it's highest award by $500. This would be greatly helpfull to the many college students and those that are bound for college in the next few years. Lets hope it goes through. When it does I will mark one for Bush.

The IRS is after one room school houses now.

A fine of $10,000 is being sought against a one room school house in Nebraska for a mistake by an accountant over a period of two years. The total of the mistake was only $40.
These mistakes happened in the years 2000-2002. The school board secratary was not informed why it took the IRS so long to find the mistake.
